The Gomé Bass is, without exaggeration, one of the most unusual and original West African musical instruments. The Schlagwerk Gomé is modeled on the Ghanaian bass drum, which provides the rhythmic basis for almost all music styles of the fishermen of the Ga tribe. This tunable drum can be played with hands or soft mallets while sitting on it with the skin facing front. The pitch can be modified, respectively tuned higher, to create djembé-like sounds.
